The Work Day and Our Units

Club Nova members volunteer to work within the clubhouse to promote their recovery from serious mental illness. This work provides a sense of belonging and accomplishment.

According to interests, members join and participate in areas of the clubhouse called units. Working side by side with staff, members use and strengthen their abilities and gain confidence through running the clubhouse.

Clubhouse members and staff work together in these areas:

    • Administration– This unit is responsible for grants, paying the bills, and maintaining the budget. We coordinate transportation and vehicle maintenance. We also facilitate any house repairs and upkeep of the grounds. The Admin Unit also oversees staff schedules. The unit can be reached at admin@clubnova.org.
    • Program– This unit is responsible for our newsletter–“The Stargazer Gazettte”–planning our weekly social outings, doing outreach to members, planning holiday celebrations, and greeting visitors to the Clubhouse. The Program Unit monitors benefits and provides advocacy, outreach, and community education as well. The unit can be reached at program@clubnova.org.
    • Culinary– This unit prepares breakfast five days a week, lunch six days a week, and dinner two evenings a week. This unit also sells refreshments in our Snack Bar. The Culinary Unit work includes planning menus, shopping, and managing the unit’s budget and receipts. The unit is often called upon to cook and serve at Club Nova’s various special events.     • Membership- Members and staff work side by side in this unit to coordinate referrals, conduct new member orientation, track attendance and statistics, and process our Medicaid billing. This unit can be reached at membership@clubnova.org.
